Crafted by the makers of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, in addition to the record-breaking Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony recipient, Robert Lopez, the score is renowned for receiving its very own Tony Award.

In response to requests from actors to reassess the portrayal of black characters in light of concerns about racial fairness, a couple of lyrics and elements of the storyline were slightly altered back in 2021. Nonetheless, the ideas of friendship, faith, and positivity, which transcend all religious beliefs, persist consistent during the performance.
In their evaluation, The New York Daily News describes how The Book of Mormon is a performance where you frequently catch yourself laughing one moment and subsequently uncover your mouth agape the subsequent, ultimately tearing up and, eventually, rooting for the lead singers. Writers Stone and Parker are well-known for their "take-no-prisoners, nothing-is-sacred method to humor."

Furthermore, Lopez shows a skill for thumbing his nose at contemporary norms. As all three share credit for the book, songs, and words, this production can be described as "foolish, heartfelt, and exceptionally impolite, while the score consistently lively and intelligent keeps the pages in this Book turning seamlessly.”
