Set in the vibrant and authentic streets of Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, the story follows 17-year-old Ali, a spirited teen’s path to finding herself amid her overprotective single mother’s watchful eye. Follow Ali as she rebels and discovers her musical gift through piano lessons with her sage mentor, Miss Liza Jane, and ignites a love story with street drummer Knuck. It premiered Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2023 to critical acclaim, prolonging its run before moving to Broadway in 2024, with previews starting March 28 and an official opening on April 20. The show earned 13 Tony Award nods in 2024, claiming Best Actress in a Leading Role for Maleah Joi Moon and Best Featured Actress for Kecia Lewis. In 2025, it won the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, making it a true modern classic.
